Best Café 2018
This award will be presented to the café in Scotland that excels across the full criteria. The café will be judged on venue atmosphere, décor and cleanliness, friendliness of staff, coffee menu options, food accompaniment options and the all-important coffee serve.
Best Barista 2018
Every café is invited to enter an individual in to the Crema Barista Competition. The event, hosted by Italian Aroma Coffee, will invite entrants to take part in a practical barista challenge. Entrants will be judged on their timing, flair and the final coffee serves.
Best Multiple Operator 2018
This award will go to a café/coffee bar operator with more than two establishments in Scotland showcasing high standards across full criteria.
Best Savoury Food Serve
This award will be presented to the café providing high quality savoury food options. Finalists in this category will be asked to nominate an item from their menu to be tasted by our visiting judges. Toasties, pastries, pies and paninis, soups, sandwiches and quiche – we want to find the best savoury café serve.
Best Sweet Food Serve
This award will be presented to the café providing high quality sweet food options. Finalists in this category will be asked to nominate an item from their menu to be tasted by our visiting judges. Cakes, croissants, pastries and tarts, muffins, doughnuts and scones – we want to find the best sweet café serve.
Best Free From Food Serve
This award will be presented to the café providing high quality free-from food options. Finalists in this category will be asked to nominate an item from their menu to be tasted by our visiting judges. Whether savoury or sweet, your submission recipe must be targeted at diners with food intolerances e.g. gluten free, dairy free.
Best Speciality Drink
Seasonal specials, cold serves and classics with a twist, we want to find the best speciality drink serve in Scotland. Finalists in this category will be asked to nominate one speciality drink from their menu to be tasted by our visiting judge.
Best Brunch
Crema are looking for the best brunch in Scotland. Finalists in this category will be judged on their menu variety and quality of food serves. We will be looking for high quality offerings whether a classic Scottish breakfast or a speciality offering.
Best Café with On-Site Roasting
Showcasing superb quality across our full criteria with serves from on site roasting facilities. Cafes will be judged on venue atmosphere, décor and cleanliness, friendliness of staff, coffee menu options, food accompaniment options and the all-important coffee serve.
Best Newcomer
This award will be presented to a café/coffee bar that began trading after the 1st of September 2016. This café will be judged across the full criteria.
Best Marketing
With coffee shops popping up on every corner, it’s important to stand out from the crowd. This award goes to the café/coffee bar demonstrating effective and creative marketing efforts. Finalists will be asked to provide a short written submission detailing their campaigns.
Best Café Design
The winner of this category will be an establishment with an unrivalled space. A café showcasing stand out interior design.
Best Speciality Café
The winner of this category will be an establishment with a twist; a café that markets itself as something special. E.g cat cafe, vegan cafe, music cafe, bookshop cafe, board game cafe, doughnut cafe, garden cafe.
